About God Knows I Don't

Our mission:

  • Provide you with the opportunity to make a personal and informed decision about Jesus.

  • Provide people, who have already accepted Him, ways to grow deeper in their faith.

  • Provide people with a non-threatening way to introduce, share, and/or reconcile people to a right relationship with God through Jesus.

Or as my daughter says, "help you find your way or get a little deeper into what Jesus Christ is all about."

Introduction

Welcome! We are glad you are here and consider it a wonderful blessing. Praise God for you drawing on God's strength to take time to consider starting or building a right relationship with Him through Jesus. All Glory to God.

Why does this site exist? Because, virtually every serious conversation I have ever had about life and my faith in God through Jesus ends the same way: "God knows, I don't."

Here's what Paul said in his letter to the Philippians 4:6-7:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

The peace of God, which transcends all understanding...(think about this for as long as you need to).

Here's what James (the 1/2 brother of Jesus and 2nd pastor of the church of Jerusalem said in his book of James 1:5-8:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”

If we will NEVER be able to fully understand God and gaining wisdom means we must believe and not doubt, then why not just start there?

This is what we have decided to do. We have created "God knows I don't" to be a starting point for building or continuing to grow a right relationship with God through Jesus.

Think of your relationship with God through Jesus as a campfire. Consider this: God has created a campfire for each and every human being on this planet. For some of you, the campfire is there but the logs of the campfire have never been lit. Your campfire needs a spark. In other words, you don't know Jesus and need to meet him...so you can decide for yourself if you want to light your campfire of faith. For others, the campfire may have been started at some time but, for whatever reason, the flame is not burning like it should be. In cases like this, maybe you need to put another log on the fire? Before you get discouraged, remember this...all campfires need to be stoked. They need to be tended. There needs to be constant attention paid to your campfire or it may burn out.

Our constant prayer is that this website will help you and others...

1. light your campfire of faith in God through Jesus.

2. stoke your campfire of faith in God through Jesus.

3. light and/or stoke their campfires of faith for God through Jesus.

Our starting point is our front page. It is divided into 5 sections in hopes of helping you identify where we might be able to best help you start or pick up where you've left off in your faith journey.

These sections are like layers of the ocean. The deeper you go in your faith, the better each section is designed to help you grow your faith. Why? Because the bible tells us that each of us goes through a similar journey of growing closer to God through Jesus. Consider this verses:

"We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up." - Romans 15:1-2

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together... but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:24-25

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” - Thessalonians 5:11

“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.” - Colossians 1:28

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best…” - Philippians 1:9-10

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!” - 2 Peter 3:18

Before you start, you may be asking, what is a right relationship with God through Jesus? Through the bible, I have learned it begins with knowing Jesus Christ, and is defined by faith in God Almighty through accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and overflows in loving obedience and service-not to earn salvation, but as a living response to it.”

This is the starting point. Everything we do here is to help you identify where you are in your understanding of Jesus and point you back to Him through reading the bible, prayer, service, and discipleship.

For those of you who do not yet know Jesus - here's why it is so important:

The world is broken. And while we can blame others or believe it isn't us who contribute to this brokenness, every one of us has done things we’re not proud of-things God Almighty defines as sins against Him. Because God created everything, it's really important to understand how sin impacts our existence and relationship with Him. Our sins separate us from God. But God, because of his Love and desire to have a personal relationship with each of us, didn’t want to leave us separated from Him.

So He sent Jesus-His own Son-to create ONE way for ALL OF US to get forgiveness for our sins. Jesus lived a perfect life as an example for us, performed miracles, taught us how to live, chose people to tell his story, AND (to fulfill the scriptures of the Old testament) He died on the cross for our sins.

Jesus said, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ - John 14:6

When He died for us on the Cross, He paid the ultimate price. He gave us this ultimate gift. And when He rose again, He conquered death, defeated satan (the devil), and opened the door for us to be made right with God.

All we have to do is make the very personal decision to believe, turn toward Him, and receive that gift. That’s how much He loves us.

Here's what the bible says:

“No one who denies the Son (Jesus) has the Father (God). Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.” - 1 John 2:23

Once you understand this clear and eternal difference, you can start to appreciate why Jesus came to earth, what he did for all of us, and why he had to die, and why you MUST start with Jesus on the Cross.

Once you know Jesus (also known as Messiah, Christ, Emmanuel, King of Kings, Son of Man, Son of God, Lamb of God, etc.), then you can choose to follow Him. Once you choose to follow Him, then you can, as Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."

In other words, Love Him, Share Him, and Defend Him.

Jesus said, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30

Because the Bible is so vast, those who don’t yet know Jesus—or are struggling to get to a right relationship with God through Him—can find it difficult to know where to begin or what to focus on.

That's why, by the grace of God, we created God knows I don't.

As mentioned earlier, our site is divided into 5 stages (or layers). If you don't know Jesus yet, for example, our objective is to guide you to the places in The Bible that can help you get to know Him.

The reality is, if you want to get to know Jesus, the first and best place to go is The Bible.

Unfortunately, many people and churches are not following the truth of the bible. They pick and choose the parts they like and avoid or even reject the parts they don't. Be careful. The very best place to learn about God and building a right relationship with Him through Jesus is The Bible.

Our mission is also inspired by Alistair Begg's sermon "The Power and Message of The Cross" and a Men of Valor bible study called "Put a Word on it."

As mentioned, our first objective is to help people know Jesus.

Our second goal is to reflect God's light by providing a simple, loving, non-threatening, and "permission-based" way to share Jesus with anyone.

Think of GodKnowsIDon't.com as a tool in your spiritual "toolbox."

Using this "tool" or resource is very simple. Just text or say to someone, "I found a website and wanted to get your opinion on it. Can I share it with you?" OR "I found a website that I really like and wanted to share it with you. Is that ok?"

after about a week, text back (if you haven't heard back yet), "what did you think about the website I shared with you?"

If you get a positive reaction, you might say "would you like to get coffee/have lunch/get together and talk more about it?"

If you are blessed to be able to have a conversation with him or her, then you may get the opportunity to ask if he or she has ever read the bible. If he or she hasn't, then you can encourage him or her to start with one of the Gospels.

Most biblical scholars agree Luke is the most thorough account of the life of Jesus. But, recommending any of them provides your friend or loved one with an opportunity to stand on a solid foundation of knowing God through the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

That's it.

Once you (or anyone) meets Jesus, God takes over.

Once you (or anyone) makes the decision to follow Jesus, you are on the path to salvation.

When you accept Christ, as you may already know, you are justified in the eyes of God. Your past sins are washed away. You are made new.

This is called Justification and is the greatest gift we will ever receive. God freely gives it to us. We cannot earn it. We simply agree to accept this gift and acknowledge it by asking for the forgiveness of our sins.

The Bible tells us that God loved us first. Our response to his love is to repent and to have faith in him through Jesus Christ and to seek to be more like Him. The bible says that a genuine faith means we are changed forever. This change will change the way you live. People will say, "what happened to you? You've changed."

In other words, it will compel you to hate evil instead of doing evil. You will turn away from all evil. Most importantly, when you sin, you will go to God and ask for forgiveness and know the only path to God is through Jesus and the price he paid for our sins.

Once we have justification, the remaining days of our lives are the process of sanctification or the work that God does in us and on us to be more Christ like. We must actively participate in this process. In other words, Faith, Hope, and Love aren't just words, they are actions.

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” - James 2:17

Finally, when we die, we are Glorified in the site of God. This is called Glorification and is the final step of our salvation.

Luke, a Gentile physician (in The Gospel according to Luke 1-4), shared the following: "Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught."

Furthermore, Luke (considered the first historian of the early church and because the truth was important to him) used firsthand accounts and other resources as material for an accurate and complete account of Jesus's life.

Still Skeptical?

Christianity doesn't say, close your eyes and believe but rather, learn and investigate for yourself so that you can have the kind of faith that actually changes you and endures through good times and bad.

The Bible teaches and encourages us, according to the following scripture verses, to investigate these claims Luke and others make thoroughly:

"You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life."

- John 5:39-40

"Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

- Acts 17:11 (NIV)

"Indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God."

- Proverbs 2:3-5

"But test them all; hold on to what is good."

- 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NIV)

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

- Matthew 7:7-8

"Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

- John 20:24-29

"The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law."

- Deuteronomy 29:29

Actions You Can Take

1. Click here and go back to our home page so you can determine the best place (for you) to learn about Jesus or grow deeper in your faith.

Our only advice is this: If you are not 100% convinced that God is the creator of heaven and earth and that Jesus was and is the living Son of God, start here....

2. Read the Miracles of Jesus, his apostles, and disciples.

Why? Because Jesus provided proof. Jesus lived. Jesus performed miracles so that the people he healed (and those who witnessed these miracles) would have proof.

One of the reasons Jesus choose to perform miracles was so that those who believed would listen closely to his teachings and also believe what he was telling them.

Our choice is this: Do we believe the eyewitness accounts of the 12 apostles, disciples, and thousands of people who witnessed and benefited from these miracles...or not?

3. The single greatest motivation of this website is to use The Bible to understand that faith in God is not an intellectual pursuit.

The truth is, I am simply not smart enough, nor will I ever be smart enough, to understand God's almighty power, righteousness, and justice.

As the bible tells us...

Isaiah 55:8-9 – "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Jeremiah 17:7-8 – "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."

2 Corinthians 5:7 – "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

James 1:5-6 – "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."

May God bless you with the strength to pursue a right relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
